Star Wars art: One of Nick's 34 Star Wars drawings that adorn the halls and his room. This one is on big poster paper; we thought it was pretty darn good for a 6 year old kid! He draws scenes from different episodes every single day. He hangs them all over his room. He quotes the movies and our favorite quote is the classic old one from the 1979 or early 1980s movie with Han Solo, "Laugh it up, Fuzzball." Nick says it with just the right intonation. He turns on the soundtrack and has light saber battles with the invisible enemy; he knows who uses what color light saber and he has 4 of them, in each color. Now our new neighbor, who is 10 years old, dukes it out with Nick; he is teaching him how to really manuever the light saber over his head, under the feet of one another...getting some fancy foot and armwork into their duels. Ted found the disco version of the Star Wars theme (from early 80s) and Nick taped a huge letter "A" to his chest: Anakin Skywalker. He danced in his shorts and then ripped the "A" off his bare little chest and put on an Elvis wig--and kept right on dancing with his light saber to the dance version of Star Wars. If we can figure out how to post it to UTube, we'll let you know!
Halloween Costumes: Just had to show one more of Nick's other Star Wars outfit: Jedi Knight. This may be Halloween costume #2. Over the past 2 years, he has worn one costume for Trunk or Treat and a totally different one for Halloween night's Trick or Treat. Costume #1 is the "fire guy" from Fantastic Four. Pictures are forthcoming: he even has a "wig" (plastic hot, fiery-looking hair). 
Labor Day: Second Fun Run (Ted ran the 5K--beat his Fourth of July 5K Run by 2 minutes--way to go, Steve!) here in Fort Worth. He says its "because of 2 less donuts a week." ahhh (sighs Robyn). Running Background: This summer, Ted's siblings, who have been running 5Ks to Marathons over the past few years, invited him to join them in the Murray 5K Run while in Utah on vacation. Ted started training; the first few weeks were brutal! He was all aches and pains. But, he kept up and plans to keep running 5Ks making a goal of a 10K and hopefully the Cowtown (half) Marathon. Incidentally, "Cowtown" refers to Fort Worth. So the kids are running in the Fun Runs, 1K races, with Mom. I get my exercise teaching fitness classes all week long--I have old knees and hips that cry during and after running...so the 1K is just right :)
