One other special package came my way this weekend:40 balloons (black, of course) each one filled with a message for me; a book about Friendship, and 40 Riesens candies (with a typed message, 40 Riesens to love my friend). Wow. Speechless. Touched. Heaven-sent. This is a friend that I could write a whole blog about; in brief:
- We met 20 years ago in Israel; bonded in banana fields on a kibbutz
- We went to BYU together and were EFY counselors together
- She gave me much needed service a few times (cleaning lady, anyone?)
- She has visited me when I lived in CA and in NH (coast to coast)
- We drove to CA for vacation and a visit to my mission area of southern CA (and she loved it). Introduced me to fav. singer, Basia.
- Lived together and cruised (Carnival) together; even bringing disco clothes (70s) and wearing them!
- Roommates, Tacky Party throwers, trip lovers, cultural/drama lovers (any Broadway show!), musical and old movie lovers, great literature lovers
- Invited a Mexican family to live with us when one was hospitalized; it changed our lives.
- Finally, one year we both sent each other the same book about Friends
- I call her 'Chrrrrristy' simply because she and her husband call me 'Rrrrrrrrob'
- We both love the gospel of Jesus Christ and are devoted to our families which is the biggest thing we share. And a love of listening to a dear friend when she calls.
