Summer Camps!

Vacation Bible School
Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church and Preschool
Haslet, TX 2008
This is Nick's 3rd year to go to VBS (Vacation Bible School for those from UT) at his previous preschool. Maddie has gone for 2 years, but this year she went to Science Camp.
Nick and 80-some other kids learned many songs about Jesus life and resurrection, as well as some basic sign language to go with them. This is him singing at the parent performance on the last day.
The theme was: Jesus is our Friend. They learned several scriptures and scripture stories, plus did things like crafts all built on a "camping" theme; he said he liked building the campfire out of food best. :)
Four of Nick's friends were there, so that was a bonus.

SCIENCE CAMP in our school district.
The kids had a day to create art projects that involved scientific theories and principles. Maddie loves art, so this was one of her favorite days. She and her close friend, Jessica, signed up together and loved the whole week (from 9-2 every day for five days).

The kids had to check out a 'crime scene' in a classroom that had clues (spilled food, footprints, fingerprints, and an outline of a body) to see which teacher accidentally 'poisoned' another teacher.
Once they saw the crime scene, they went into another classroom that had molds of the 4 suspects' teeth, this zerox of the bottom of their shoes, and a written testimony from each witness/suspect.
This is the last year Maddie could attend, but they told her next year she could come as a helper since she'll be in middle school. She is totally excited to go back and be part of it again.
One almost unmentionable, but I must mention it since it was one of the highlights of the week: the dissection of a cow's eyeball.
