Grandma Clyde at Christmas with young Ted and 15 month-old Maddie
Classic Clyde-quoted tributes from grandchildren and her two sons:
"Tony, you've got the devil in you...I've gotta keep my eye on you."
"I love men. I love evra-thing about 'em." (please, use a southern accent)
"Well, I didn't marry Lou (married again after being widowed) just to have breakfast with him!"
"Remember who you are and what you stand for."
"The Savior's most important question will be, "How did you treat your fellowman?"
"The Lord takes care of those who follow His commandments."
Grandma Clyde died happy surrounded by her children and some grandchildren at the age of 93, having lived long, lived well, lived in love and service all her life. Of the tributes given by almost all of her grandchildren (and "adopted grandchildren"), every one of them talked about her genteel-nature, her kindness, that she loved everybody, that she was always positive and thoughtful, and that she led a dedicated life of service to God and to her fellow men and women on earth. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was one of the pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Savannah, GA and Rigdeland & Charleston, SC.
We will miss her delightful personality, her sincere love and interest in us and our kids, her home-cooking, her accent and the easy laugh she had. We are thrilled that she is reunited with her husband, Woodrow Sr., after decades of separation. We love our Grandma Clyde!
