holiday frolic, friends & fun!!

favorite treats!!! peanut M&M lovers, unite!!

Maddie had a Christmas Friends' party!
It's not beginning to look much like Christmas...
but no one's complaining!
(maddie is in the red)
then she and a couple of friends (Addy and Abby) had LOTS of photo shoots at our house :)

Nick got to hang out a lot with his "BFF", Malik
this was at Six Flags in Arlington
both boys' siblings performed in the middle school choir
so we all went to ride the coasters

These are Nick's Fantastic Football Friends, for his "Athlete's Christmas Party" which was simply a 2 hour session of backyard football :)  along with gingerbread cookies that we made and they frosted.

Nick and his new buddy, Sam: cub scout buddy & church friend
Polar Express movie night with Nick's buddies and Maddie is their "cheerleader" (unofficially, at games) and also their "big sister" (although I think they all have crushes on her...hee hee)

Maddie, in her enthusiasm for life, still loves to visit Santa, high five him and pose with him!
Nick's school, Mads & friend, Jessica, since 3rd grade.

Since we baked, had parties, and stayed up too late, this was some of our vacation:
Our dog, Boston, LOVES to sleep near the kids; on the floor or on the bed...

Favorite cookie place ever: McKinley's Fine Bakery & Cafe
This place "takes the cake" for delectable, desirable, gorgeous, delish dishes & desserts!!
This bundt cake was homemade by moi for a super fun dinner night we had with darling friends from the college I worked at (TCC) and a neighbor family, the Trice Clan. We had the BEST Tortellini & Italian Sausage Soup (thanks, Natasha!!) and this (artificial) Rum Cake, a tribute to a sweet friend who made it for us a few months ago; she passed away Jan 3rd of this year. Thank you, Jo. You are missed.

and then, since we weren't in Salt Lake City to attend the Buckwalter Family White Elephant Gift Night, we scurried over to one organized by some new friends from church. We had a gourmet dinner (Reina is a GREAT cook! amongst her MANY talents!) and then we ended up taking home the very "Merry Grinchmas" boxer shorts we brought to give away. what? no one wants Grinch boxers???

This is the guy who first "chose our special gift" and his wife was CRACKING UP!

this cutie and dear-friend-like-a-sister, picked this cowboy hat--it's ceramic, holds chip & dip, and is a recycled white elephant gift that had cracks all over it, was glued together, and even in spite of that, someone else "stole" it from her...
This dude was all about changing the rules :) so that he wouldn't have to keep 10 plastic Hawaiian laies...

So, we went home with one great gift and the boxers. We packed them up with our Christmas stuff and we'll pull it out next year for whosever White Elephant Party we go to...anybody fired up about those boxers?!
