When the kids were very young and STILL, they have always loved playing out in the rain. Here in Texas, we get huge rains in the summer (they are SO welcome!!!) and I let them go out and go crazy for as long as they want to. The temperature is probably in the 80s usually. They were diving into grassy puddles and Maddie was making "snow angels" in the road, where the two roads meet--the water was so deep!
I was cozied up in the house watching a Jane Austen movie (the deluxe 4 hour version!) and I could hear them laughing like mad. I had to get up and snap some photos and take some videos...it was such a deeply joyful evening, hearing them outside, having quiet inside, and then watching them go upstairs and lay on our guest bed and read together. After dinner, they layed stomach-down on the floor, coloring huge posters of ocean and jungle (just what my sisters and I used to do on all our beach vacation nights).
