Can you see how big these strawberries are?!
Our week with "Bompa" (Ted's dad) was full of fun, Cub Scouts, and games!
Plus Pa Buck (as he is known throughout SLC & Holladay, UT) mulched and planted 2 crepe myrtle bushes for us! He works on a farm in UT early in the morning and so when I mentioned the projects, he was up and raring to get to work.
I'm looking for all the photos we took of the great EVENT of the Pinewood Derby, with Pa sawing and cutting and painting his car right alongside the kids. That was really a special day...
Plus, one day Nick had a little ear-leakage (tubes leak out the infection, which is not attractive, but it is sooo helpful in early diagnosis), so he stayed home from school that day and played pool and scrabble with Pa.
Then SWINEFLU hit and Maddie's school was closed for 2 days (due to probable cases that didn't pan out, luckily) and she played an extensive amount of pool (Pa is a bit of a 'pool shark' with his buddies; they play weekly; he had quite a billiards' lingo going that we loved) and board games and Wii hunting and racing games.
The kids being out for a few days was a real treat as Pa came for Nick's baptism, yet we had work and school most of the days he was here. The kids had a blast and he really got to see them in their element: at Nick's baseball game, hear Maddie's French horn practice & attend her piano recital, see the neighborhood kids shoot hoops out front with our kids, meet our church friends & most of our neighbors, work in our yard (yea!) with the kids, and add to our enjoyment of playing games. It's always fun to have another player!
We love our grandpa and are so thankful that all of our kids' grandparents love to visit and do at least once a year...we wish, almost desperately, that they or we lived closer, but we enjoy our time with them like crazy when we get together.
