Pourquoi Elvis?

The other day a good friend asked me about my intense interest in The King. I guess it started when I noticed that my sisters-in-law had a secret admiration for him. Then in 1999 while living in New Hampshire I read "Reflections on the Birth of the Elvis Faith" by John Strasbaugh, a treatise on the depth of admiration shown by the King's biggest followers. So I remain an interested observer of Elvis fans, while being lukewarm in my own conversion, although I enjoy a few of his tunes now and then. Some of my co-workers have been mistaken to think that I actually am an Elvis fanatic. However, I have a secret wish for my 40th birthday to go to Stonehenge, the Alamo, the Great Wall or other important locale while dressed up like Elvis!
