In an effort to grow a FABULOUS garden in our large backyard, we started throwing out all grass clippings, all rinds and peels and apple cores, etc. We don't know the next steps, though I hear they involve mixing the pile up now and again.
Well, we threw out some cantalope seeds and a tiny plant that was 1 inch tall that had died out.Next thing we knew, this GIANT vine was growing out of our mulch pile!!! We show it off to everyone that comes over. If we haven't shown you lately, please ask us! :)
That is the first pick of the crop. We have picked on more since; and one more is almost ready. Wow!! I can't wait to have a huge garden--by next summer! This is the Winter of the Compost coming our way and we'll read up on what we need to do--and get the kids to do it! :)
