Basketball Family

Teddy B is coaching Nick again in basketball. Last year he was Asst. Coach and this year they were short coaches, so he raised his hand.
They got to pick their team and their team numbers, which both of them LOVE to do:
So, here's the Kansas City Jayhawks. Nick is #45 for a BYU player he likes...
Here are two of Nick's teammates and good buddies getting ready to romp-- CONGRATULATIONS, MADDIE!! She made the 7th grade basketball C team. She is a pistol out there, so fast, plays such terrific defense. She keeps that ball moving and even makes a lot of steals and shots as the basket.
Ted loves it! I am learning to like it. I never watched sports as a kid, or teen, or adult, for that matter. I am interested in SO many things, and watching sports is not one of them. This is new for me and I love watching my kids in action; when they are on the court (or field), I try to stay focused and not get too tense about how the game is going. I know when Nick got his made his first basket (the first year he played), I got completely choked up in the stands and was cheering wildly!

College for Kids

Here is Nick on his first day at Tarrant County College's "College For Kids" showing his schedule.
They went Monday through Thursday from 1pm to 5pm for 3 weeks. Talk about quiet time for me! :)
Both kids LOVED their classes! and learned their way around the campus pretty quick.
Nick took: Tae Kwondo, French, Oceanography, and Basketball
He brought home a French menu, a French 'person' that he described all in French. Of course, he loved his sports' classes and was able to show off his Tae Kwondo moves on the last day.
Maddie took: Fashion Design, Musical Theatre, Basketball, and Hip Hop. Since her classes were more for the stage, she was able to perform in the finale for 3 of her classes.
Maddie designed flip flops, capris, a skirt made from jeans, sewed a bag out of handkerchiefs, a purse out of jeans, and tie-dyed a shirt and some socks; plus some jewelry...they had a short Fashion Show on the last night. Her Hip Hop class performed and so did her Musical Theatre class.

The kids have already figured out what classes they want to take next year!
We love to have found this (at the college I have been working at) and look forward to it next year.
